My thread on Golf Magic's forum, asking for help with my shank problem received a good amount of replies all trying to help. Three people in particular gave similar advice to do with releasing the club head. That rang a bell with what Harry the assistant club pro told me once before too. Anyway I decided to give more attention to releasing the club and started by chipping with airflow balls so I could put some oomph behind the release to really get the feel of it without the balls going miles.
On last nights results we may be onto something, I chipped the air flow balls and then went to real golf balls and by the end of a long session of only chipping I could genuinely say I never shanked even one ball.
Tonight I aim to head up to the course and the practice ground to try pitching in a similar way. I know I've claimed a cure before, but I'm very exited after last nights chipping performance, I could even stand close to the ball and find the middle of the club face.
I'm kind of praying that this could be the simple answer I have been hoping for that restores my confidence in my short shot ball striking.
I think that when asking about problems online, posting a video clip really helps people to give better advice. Also I can see what they meant when saying I was leaving the club face wide open. In the video clip when the hosel hits the ball the club face is nowhere to be seen, That must be because it was lagging behind wide open. Also now I come to think of it it did feel recently like I was holding the club face off to try and stop the ball going left as much.
